Maltz Jupiter Theatre Breaks Subscriber, Single Day Ticket Sales Records
The Maltz Jupiter Theatre has broken all previous records by exceeding 7,537 subscribers for the current 2013/14 season, Your Ticket to Great Entertainment!
In its first day of single ticket sales on Monday, the Theatre posted a record $102,000 in sales, the most ever earned in a single day. The previous record was $57,000.
"Our 2013/14 season ticket sales represent a milestone for the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, and we believe these sales are a testament to the outstanding artistic excellence that our patrons have come to expect," said the Theatre's producing artistic director, Andrew Kato.
"We saw trends in families purchasing tickets for our classic large-scale musicals Annie, The King and I and A Chorus Line, as well as numerous calls from patrons excited about our two dramas, Dial M for Murder and Other Desert Cities," said the Theatre's director of marketing, Jennifer Sardone-Shiner. "We sold tickets to patrons across South Florida and the Treasure Coast, as well as theatergoers calling from as far as New England, Michigan and California."
Patrons lined up as early as 9 a.m. to wait in line for tickets at the Theatre. Although the lobby is currently undergoing an expansion and renovations (expected to be complete by mid-October), the Theatre set up a temporary box office for walk-ins for one day only on Monday, August 26. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., a team of box office staff spent the day helping customers in person and by phone.
"I am so proud of our incredible staff that worked very hard to ensure that our box office was accessible for our first day of single ticket sales," Kato said. "We are particularly happy because for the first time, our patrons had the option of purchasing club level premium seats. Our patrons will now have the opportunity to experience the amenities of the new upstairs club level lounge, including larger seats, a private bar and restrooms and a grand view of the stage."
Construction crews are currently working to add 62 luxurious new seats in the existing second floor space to create an upstairs club level lounge. This second floor renovation will include a private entrance, glass elevator, expanded lobby, bar and restrooms, all adjacent to the new seats. Additional executive offices will also be added to this floor. The Theatre is expanding and upgrading the downstairs lobby, increasing restroom capacity and adding a much-needed standalone family restroom. The Theatre's expansion followed a $2.5 million dollar campaign funded by Jupiter resident and founding board member Roe Green and the Roe Green Foundation and other donors, with construction expected to be complete in mid-October.
The Theatre's 2013/14 season will begin with Dial M for Murder (Oct. 27 - Nov. 10), a thrilling murder mystery filled with suspense, jealousy, blackmail and backstabbers. We continue with Annie (Dec. 3 - 22), the Tony Award-winning musical celebrating America's favorite comic-strip orphan - just in time for the holidays! Next up is A Chorus Line (Jan. 14 - Feb. 2), the poignant and inspiring Tony Award-winning hit musical that follows the audition process of theatre "gypsies" as they try to land a job in a Broadway show. Then join us for Other Desert Cities (Feb. 16 - March 2), the Tony-nominated new drama that follows a young novelist as she returns home to Palm Springs for the holidays and threatens to expose family secrets. Our incredible season ends with the beloved Tony Award-winning phenomenon The King and I (March 18 - April 6), sure to leave you whistling a happy tune!
In addition to the theatre's season shows, tickets are currently on sale for the theater's annual series of outstanding concerts, comedy shows and more. Back by popular demand, the Theatre will produce the spectacular family-friendly musical Through the Looking Glass (Nov. 15-16, sponsored by Elmore Family Foundation, John Osher, and The Albert E. and Birdie W. Einstein Fund). New shows include the acrobatic troupe Cirque Zuma Zuma (Jan. 2), the smooth sounds of the Masters of Motown (Jan. 20, sponsored by Seaview Radio) and the spellbinding magic show Spencers Theatre of Illusion (Feb. 4).
Single show ticket prices start at $52, with flexible performance schedule options. The award-winning not-for-profit Theatre is also offering two convenient subscription plans, the four-play and the five-play, for the Theatre's 2013/14 season, Your Ticket to Great Entertainment.
