Williamston Theatre Receives Grants from the MCACA

The Williamston Theatre has been awarded two grants from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA). The first grant of $27,000 will support the general operations of the Williamston Theatre for the 2016-2017 Season, which will include six productions and many special programs. The second grant of $1,250, awarded through the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, will provide support for the organization to go through a strategic planning process as it enters its second decade in operation. These grants were awarded through the MCACA peer review process, and were among 559 applications to compete for MCACA fiscal year 2016 funding.

Organizations receiving a MCACA grant award are required to match those funds with other public and private dollars. Business support of the Williamston Theatre 2016-2017 Season and include Cardinal Fabricating, ASAP Printing, The Draggoo-Huber Team of Merrill Lynch, Plante Moran, and the Shubert Foundation. The Williamston Theatre also receives significant private donations and volunteer support from the community.

The MCACA peer review process allows for each grant application to be competitively considered by a panel of in-state and out-of-state arts and culture professionals. This ensures the taxpayers, who support this project through legislative appropriations, and all other visitors or residents in Michigan will have access to the highest quality arts and cultural experiences.
