Jesse Aaronson, junior BFA Acting Major, is excited to announce auditions for the first Basement Arts show of the season....boom by Peter Sinn-Nachtrieb, playingOctober 13th-15th in Studio One.

Auditions: Monday Sept. 19th from 6:30-9:30 Tuesday Sept. 20th from 7:00-9:30 Callbacks 9:30-11:30
WHERE: Large Classroom, Walgreen Drama Center
"Sex to Change the Course of the world"boom tells the story of the end of the world. Or the beginning of the world. Depending on how you look at it. When a personal ad promising an evening of "no strings attached sex" puts Jules-a nervous marine biology graduate student-and Jo-a nihilistic journalism student-together in Jules's underground laboratory, a global catastrophe leaves the fate of the world in their unlikely-and unwilling-hands. An epic and intimate comedy spanning billions of years, boom explores fate and randomness, and the desperate need to connect in the face of hopelessness.

BREAKDOWN:1 M, 2 W
JULES (M): Twenty-eightish. Marine biology grad student. Nervous, excitable, literal, uncomfortable. Spends a lot of time with fish.JO (F): Twenty-twoish. Undergrad journalism student. Strong, skeptical, nihilistic, physical. Uses language as a weapon.BARBARA (F): Forties to fifties. Vulnerable, passionate, desperate, grand. A natural history museum exhibit curator billions of years in the future after Jo and Jules.
CONFLICTS WITH: Peter and the Star Catcher, The Drowsy Chaperone, Process Project, A Man of No Importance******AMONI: boom only overlaps one week with it, and for some smaller roles, we would potentially be able to work something out!
A 1-2 Minute monologue, comedic or dramatic is PREFERRED but not necessary. Sides from the script will be available to read. I have also attached a copy of the script to this email.
The team are looking for 3 dedicated actors ready to jump into a crazy, fun, quick process. Do not let the time commitment or the audition discourage you from coming to read!
