St. Dunstan's Theatre Guild of Cranbrook is excited to announce a special benefit performance of 42nd Street. This benefit will help raise money and awareness for The Welcome Inn, a center in Royal Oak that aids the homeless.

The Welcome Inn is a warming center operated for the homeless during the winter months by the South Oakland Citizens for the Homeless (SOCH.) Their vision was to open a day time drop-in center for the homeless population who used evening and overnight programs, but had few places to go during the day except the streets and public buildings. Since 2004, The Welcome Inn has provided a safe place where the homeless can shower, make phone calls, have a meal, and explore job opportunities. The center is open three months out of the year to provide shelter from the cold in addition to several benefits such as access to drug and alcohol rehabilitation, safe storage of their belongings, medical attention and referrals, and legal advice.

Dianne Cragg of Berkley spearheaded this benefit performance. Cragg is the music director for 42nd Street and has been assisting Welcome Inn with fundraising for years. She has produced and music directors several similar musical revues which have helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for The Welcome Inn. "I am excited to be the music director for this production of "42nd Street" and even more excited to once again be able to assist those who need our help," Cragg said.

This fundraiser will occur on Wednesday May 31st in St. Dunstan's outdoor Greek Theatre at 400 Lone Pine Road in Bloomfield Hills, MI on the Cranbrook campus. Light refreshments and an optional stroll around the grounds will be at 7:00 pm, and the performance starts at 8:00 pm. Tickets are a $20 donation and will be available at the door.
