Planet Ant is proud to bring The Aliens, a play with music by the esteemed American playwright Annie Baker, to Detroit for the first time February 12 - March 5. Tickets ($10 -$20) are on sale now at www.planetant.com. A complete performance schedule follows this release.

The Aliens is one of Annie Baker's earliest and strongest plays. One fourth of Baker's Vermont Plays, The Aliens tells the story of Jasper and KJ, two young men who are more comfortable where they're not supposed be; loitering behind a coffee shop in a small town in Vermont. Their conversations range from Bukowski to music to ex-girlfriends and when a lonely high school student arrives on the scene they decide to teach him everything they know. This critically acclaimed work is a play with music about friendship, art, love and death.

Directed by York Griffith, The Aliens features Doug Kolbicz, Andy Reid and Darren Shelton. Performances are at 8:00pm Friday and Saturday evenings with 2:00pm matinees on Sunday February 21 and Sunday February 28. Tickets ($10-$20) are available now online at www.planetant.com or in person at the Planet Ant Box Office 30 minutes prior to show time based on availability.

It is not an overstatement to call Annie Baker the single most important American playwright of the new century. The New Yorker and the Daily Beast have called her a genius. The Pulitzer Committee has already honored her. She has been compared to both Chekhov and Beckett and yet still manages to have a voice all her own. Her style is so unique and of this world that she is bridging the gap between theatre-goers and non-theatre goers. Recently she was even interviewed by the comedian Marc Maron for his extremely popular WTF podcast. Click here to listen: http://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/episodes/episode_645_-_annie_baker
