Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts is proud to bring back MOMIX. one of the world's most enthralling and innovative hybrids of Dance and visuals as we present MOMIX's newest production, ' Alchemia', which explores the ancient art of transformation- focusing on the four elements and the spirits and imagery for one glorious and surreal evening, Friday, January 22nd 2016 at 8PM in our historic main hall.

The Art of Alchemy and the Alchemy of Art

Known internationally for presenting work of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty, MOMIX is a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of Moses Pendleton. For 20 years, MOMIX has been celebrated for its ability to conjure up a world of surrealistic images using props, light, shadow, humor and the human body.

The newest production by MOMIX, 'Alchemia' brings the audience into an enchanting, magical, ethereal, dream world: the World of the Unconscious. Inspired by Jung, Yeats, and Alchemical literature, Pendleton loosely connects the four classical elements, focusing on the "Elementals", or spirits of each. By tapping into the unconscious level, his logic is that of dreams: the stream just below reality that is both magical and mysterious, dark and light, mixing fire with water and earth with air. Like every MOMIX performance, 'Alchemia' is full of aesthetic thrills, surprising metamorphosis, and the sexuality of nature. An alchemist himself, Mr. Pendleton has created a 90-minute concoction of light, music, dance, props, and imagery that abandons the world of reality and enters into the mysterious world of the ancient art.

In addition to stage performances world-wide, the company has frequently worked on special projects and in film and television. MOMIX has made five Italian RAI television features broadcast to 55 countries (including the USSR and China) and has performed on Antenne II in France. MOMIX was also featured in PBS's "Dance in America" series.

The company participated in the "Homage a Picasso" in Paris and was selected to represent the US at the European Cultural Center at Delphi.
