Jeff Daniels Returning to Purple Rose for Series of Shows, 12/26-31

The Purple Rose Theatre Company will present Jeff Daniels' Onstage & Unplugged for a limited seven-show engagement from Friday, December 26 through Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Two special benefit performances include a mid-performance Question & Answer opportunity with Mr. Daniels on Saturday, December 27 and a New Year's-themed buffet dinner at the Chelsea Comfort Inn & Village Conference Center. Festive desserts by Laura O'Brien Sweets & Treats top off the 8pm benefit in the theatre's lobby. All performances will be at The Purple Rose Theatre Company, 137 Park Street, Chelsea, MI 48118.

A prolific songwriter, actor, as well as playwright, Daniels (PRTC Founder) will perform an arsenal of songs that are alternately humorous and poignant. Daniels has toured nationally with his music; most recently completing a 14-city Midwest tour with his son, Ben, and The Ben Daniels Band. Mr. Daniels' new album, Days Like These, will be released in the coming weeks as well as the highly anticipated sequel to the 1994 smash hit Dumb & Dumber, titled Dumb & Dumber To, opening in theaters nationwide on November 14. He recently finished filming the final (third) season of his two-time Emmy nominated and 2013 Emmy winning lead role on HBO's acclaimed series The Newsroom. "Jeff Daniels is one of the busiest men in show business. The fact that he chooses to spend his holidays performing Unplugged for the theatre company he founded and continues to nurture speaks volumes of his dedication to not just our company, but to our state. We could not be more excited," says PRTC Artistic Director Guy Sanville.

This year's line-up will feature old favorites as well as songs from Daniels' new album, Days Like These. His first album, Jeff Daniels Live and Unplugged, was recorded in 2001 during the original PRTC concert that sparked the tradition. Daniels' other critically acclaimed albums, Live at the Purple Rose, Grandfather's Hat, Together Again with Jonathan Hogan, and Keep It Right Here (Featuring Brad Phillips and Dominic John Davis) are available for purchase at The Purple Rose Theatre Company Box Office.
