GEM Theatrics, the husband and wife Production Company of Gary E. Mitchell and Mary Beth Quillin is presenting the new Irish play, Chapatti, by Christian O'Reilly March 3-5, 2017 as a part of the 5th Annual Lake Effect Fringe Festival. The Lake Effect Fringe Festival is a collaboration between West Michigan theater groups Dog Story Theater, GEM Theatrics, The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, and The University Wits. The festival takes place February - March at the Dog Story Theater, 7 Jefferson SE in Grand Rapids. The festival seeks to highlight performer-focused theater in a non-traditional theater space, creating an intimate performance experience for audiences. All performances take place in the black box performance space of the Dog Story Theater.

Romance is a distant memory for two lonely animal lovers living in Dublin. When forlorn Dan (Gary E. Mitchell) and his dog Chapatti cross paths with the amiable Betty (Mary Beth Quillin) and her nineteen cats, an unexpected spark begins a warm and gentle story about two people rediscovering the importance of human companionship. Originally commissioned as a radio play, this deeply emotional two character play combines traditional Irish storytelling with conventional dialogue laced with charm and a dark sense of Irish humor.

Performances are Friday & Saturday, March 3 & 4 @ 8pm, and Sunday, March 5 @ 3pm and are presented as a part of the Lake Effect Fringe Festival - Changing the forecast for live theatre! Tickets are available online at the Dog Story Theater website; www.dogstorytheater.com $14/adults; $8/students & seniors.
