Circle Theatre's SPAMALOT Begins Today

Circle Theatre continues the Main Stage season today with the musical comedy MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT, running August 7 through 23. This hilarious musical with book and lyrics by Eric Idle and music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle is lovingly ripped off from the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This Tony award winner for Best Musical retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful showgirls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. Did we mention the bevy of beautiful showgirls?

In conjunction with the production, Circle Theatre will be offering a FIND YOUR GRAIL Social Media Scavenger Hunt. The Holy Grail has been misplaced at a location somewhere in Grand Rapids. The Knights of the Round Table have requested that the peasants of West Michigan assist them in their quest for the Grail. Clues will be posted on the Circle Theatre Facebook and Twitter pages describing the location of several grails hidden in Grand Rapids during the week of July 28th. Participants will be eligible for a drawing to win two free tickets to a performance of Monty Python's Spamalot. The quest begins on Monday, July 28th and ends on Friday, August 1st. The winner will be announced on Monday, August 4th by virtue of a video announcement by Spamalot's own King Arthur. For details, visit http://circletheatre.org/special-events/find-your-grail---social-media-scavenger-hunt.html.

The Circle Theatre production of Monty Python's Spamalot will be directed by Tom Kaechele. Kaechele will be joined by music director Scott Patrick Bell and choreographer Mary Lohman. The design team features lighting designer Tom Lohman, scenic designer David Leugs, costume designers Robert Fowle and Kelly Lucas, hair & make-up designer Rob Thomasma, sound designer Tim Schmidt, and properties designer Nancy Gallardo.

The cast of Monty Python's Spamalot features Jeremiah Postma as King Arthur, Kyle Cain as Sir Robin, Stephen Grey as Sir Lancelot, Matt Ablan as Patsy, Calin Skidmore as Sir Galahad, Rob Reminga as Sir Bedevere, Noddea Moore-Skidmore as The Lady of the Lake, Jeff Kemperman as The Black Knight, Greg Rogers as The Versatile Actor, Joshua Regan as Herbert and Connor Manion as Not Dead Fred.

Performances will be held at the Aquinas College Performing Arts Center. Performances are August 7 through 23. Curtain for performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30PM. Sunday performances begin at 5:00PM. Tickets are $27 and can be purchased by calling the Circle Theatre box office at 616.456.6656 or online at www.circletheatre.org. The box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5:00PM and from 3:00PM to curtain on days of weekend performances.

2014 will mark Circle Theatre's 62nd year of producing plays and musicals for West Michigan audiences. The remaining production in the 2014 season is the musical thriller Carrie The Musical. Circle's 2014 Summer Concert Series will perform on select Monday evenings at 7:00PM and will feature the iconic music of artists Billy Joel & Elton John (PianoMen), The Eagles (Take It To The Limit), Simon & Garfunkel (Feelin' Groovy) and the musical stories of Harry Chapin (Keep the Change). The theatre first produced shows at the Rowe Hotel before moving to the Pantlind Hotel and the pavilion in John Ball Park. Circle Theatre now shares a performing arts center with Aquinas College and the Catholic Secondary Schools at the Aquinas College Performing Arts Center. Information regarding season ticket subscriptions, Magic Circle and the Summer Concert Series can be gathered by calling the Circle Theatre box office at (616) 456-6656 or by visiting the theatre's website at www.circletheatre.org.
