Acting Out Productions has announced the cast for their upcoming production of Next to Normal. "We're so excited to get rehearsals underway," said the show's director, Liza Altenburg. "We saw incredible talent at auditions, and we know that this cast of 6 is going to impress!"

The show is an unflinching look at a suburban family struggling with the effects of mental illness. The rock opera was the 2009 Tony winner for Best Original Score, and the winner of the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The cast includes Leah Cooley of Lincoln Park as Diana, the show's mentally unstable matriarch. Her husband, Dan, will be played by Lincoln Park's Tony Primeau. Rounding out the dysfunctional family are Trenton's Andrea Vanderhorst as daughter Natalie, and Gavin Alvedy, also from Trenton, as her brother, Gabe. Zachary Morgan of Romulus will portray Henry, Natalie's love interest. And no show revolving around mental illness could be complete without a psychiatrist... In this production's case, Doctor Madden will be played by Taylor's Matt Parks.

Show dates and times are as follows: May 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2017 at 7:30pm, and May 7, 2017 at 3:00pm at the Royal Majestic Theatre inside Trillium Academy, 15740 Racho Road in Taylor. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students ages 13-18 with valid school ID. $10 tickets are available online only at actingoutdownriver.com/jazzhands. Purchasing tickets early is recommended, as seats are expected to sell fast.
