A unique theatrical production featuring nine short plays will be performed for four performances this weekend at the Sauk Theatre in Jonesville.

"Sauk Shorts" is the The Sauk's annual presentation of short plays. Production Coordinator Trinity Bird feels this year's scripts are the best the organization has produced.

"The plays are so good," Bird said. "We have several comedies, a couple dramas, a short play by a local college student and three short plays by Grand Rapids-based author G.M. (Bud) Thompson including a world premiere."

This years "shorts" are "Mime in a Box" by Stephen Bittrich, directed by Chloe Cryderman; "Writer's Block" written and directed by Naomi Hendrickson; "The First Fireworks" by Alex Broun, directed by Angela Forant; "Socks" by Tim Bohn, directed by Mari Nunez; "Insomnia" by Patrick Gabridge, directed by Ian DeBacker and "Post-Its (Notes on a Marriage)" by Paul Dooley and Winnie Holzman, directed by Kristin Hood. The three plays by Thompson are "Blunt the Lion's Paws" directed by Jared Bugbee, "Words" directed by Trinity Bird and "The Seven Deadly Sins Play Cards in Hell" directed by Josh Hall.

The cast for the evening includes Jeff Baumgardner, Bird, Travis Blatchley, Sara Cark, Shannon Chen, Steve Cobb, Brandi Cole, Makayla Eppel, Mary Lou Diane Giberson, Brad Hayes, Brock Hayes, Jessica Hayes, Summer Housler, Logan Hurtado, Alaina Kerr, Tracy McCullough, Andy Myers, Aimie Smith, Laken Stych, Mike Sutton, Jon Weigle and Jonah VanderHoff. Joella Hendrickson is stage manager.
