New York-based soul singer, songwriter, and Broadway chanteuse Morgan James casts an unbreakable spell with a powerhouse voice, theatrical swing, and soulful poise. Touring in support of her most recent release, Hunter, Morgan applies her own soulful style to modern throwbacks, summertime pop, haunting ballads, and empowering farewells.

CAPA presents Morgan James at the Lincoln Theatre (769 E. Long St.) on Friday, April 14, at 8 pm. Tickets are $25 and $30 at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, please call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000.

Hunter boasts powerful and personal renditions of Prince's "Call My Name" (reached Top 15 at Urban AC radio and #1 most added) along with Hall & Oates' "She's Gone" and Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark." James assumed co-writing duties on eight of the collection's eleven tracks and even performed all of her own background vocals and harmonies. She is proud to note that no vocal tuning of any kind has been used on any of her albums. From the empowering farewell of "Fed Up On You" to the mournful rumination of "Say The Words" to the soulful duet with Grammy Award winner Robert Glasper, "Let Me Keep You," she continually bares it all both emotionally and musically.

In addition to Hunter, James has released a live tribute to Nina Simone, Morgan James Live, as well as an EP featuring some of her fans' favorite covers, YouTube Sessions. She can also be heard on countless theatre and concept soundtracks.

Since the release of Hunter, James' music videos have accumulated more than 45 million views (and climbing). James toured the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand with viral sensation Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, and is currently touring with her band and in the midst of writing her next album.
