Celebrating three decades as Canada's foremost groundbreaking independent artist, Grammy-nominated Loreena McKennitt brings her rare and intimate A Trio Performance to Columbus, featuring two of her long-time musical collaborators-guitarist BrIan Hughes and cellist Caroline Lavelle.

The trio will perform music and tell stories inspired by McKennitt's exotic travels in pursuit of the history of the Celts-from China and Mongolia to central Turkey and Ireland-while interlacing the mystical Irish poems of Yeats and such classical writers as Shakespeare and Tennyson.

CAPA presents Loreena McKennitt at the Palace Theatre (34 W. Broad St.) on Wednesday, November 2, at 8 pm. Tickets are $30-$60 at the CAPA Ticket Center (39 E. State St.), all Ticketmaster outlets, and www.ticketmaster.com. To purchase tickets by phone, call (614) 469-0939 or (800) 745-3000.

This tour comes on the heels of the 25th anniversary of McKennitt's award-winning 1991 release The Visit, which achieved Gold status in the US (sales over 500,000) and has sold more than 1.5 million copies worldwide. The 25th anniversary edition of The Visit has been re-mastered and re-released under McKennitt's own label, Quinlan Road, as a numbered, 180-gram audiophile-quality vinyl record with a free digital download code.

McKennitt's eclectic Celtic blend of pop, folk, and world music has sold more than 14 million albums globally, achieving Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum status in 15 countries on four continents. She has twice been nominated for a Grammy Award, and has won two Juno Awards and a Billboard International Achievement Award.

McKennitt has performed in some of the world's most respected and historic concert venues from Carnegie Hall to the famous Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain, and for dignitaries including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and numerous heads of state.

In addition to her musical career, McKennitt has been recognized for a number of noteworthy philanthropic initiatives. In 1998, she founded the Cook-Rees Memorial Fund for Water Search and Safety, and she was instrumental in the transformation of a 1929 neo-Gothic school into the Falstaff Family Centre, a charitable organization focused on families and children.
