The Porthouse Theatre Academy is a musical theatre summer intensive program for high school graduates intending to enroll at Kent State University's School of Theatre and Dance as a theatre major. Students will take three (1) credit hour courses in 1) Musical Theatre Dance either beginning or intermediate level, 2) Voice and Ensemble Singing and 3) Acting and Monologue Preparation. Student will attend afternoon rehearsals for Hello Dolly and will also understudy roles in the production. Master classes will be provided by the professional actors in the Porthouse Theatre company.

The program is ideal for:

Students already accepted into the BFA Musical Theatre Program who wish to get a head start on their college career.

Students who are not accepted into the BFA Program and are seeking assistance in strengthening their audition skills. The students will have the opportunity to reaudition for the BFA Musical Theatre program after the completion of the summer intensive.

Current Kent State Theatre majors who would like to audition for the BFA Musical Theatre Program.
