The House Theatre of Chicago announces a full slate of Winter 2014 performances of the long-running hit show, The Magic Parlour, presented at The Palmer House Hilton Hotel in downtown Chicago.

After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, Chicago residents and guests can sneak away to one of the city's best date nights for an intimate, up-close performance in an opulent and remarkable landmark hotel.

Only 32 seats are available for each performance of this intimate, sophisticated, close-up magic show in one of the hotel's historic private event rooms. Guests gather at Potter's Lounge in the hotel's lower level and are escorted to the performance space, where they will enjoy an evening of mind-blowing magic and mind reading with Chicago's own Dennis Watkins. The audience participates in much of the performance as Dennis wows the room with disappearing decks, swallowed razor blades, unbelievable mentalism, and age-old stories passed down from his grandfather. Third generation magician Dennis Watkins regularly incorporates new pieces of magic into this long-running production, giving returning audiences brand new feats to puzzle over.

The Magic Parlour ticket always includes wine and beer selections. A New Year's Eve performance will culminate in a special champagne toast at midnight. Both Valentine's Day performances will include delicious, world-famous Palmer House brownies (a confection invented at the historic hotel) for every guest.

About The Magic Parlour: In September of 2010, The House Theatre of Chicago hosted a benefit performance with entertainer and House Company Member Dennis Watkins. The event was such a hit that The House decided to produce The Magic Parlour for a limited run. After selling out week after week, The Magic Parlour became a weekly event, and played at The Chopin Theatre for 15 months before moving to The Palmer House Hilton Hotel in February 2012.

About The House Theatre of Chicago: The House is Chicago's premier home for original works of physical and spectacle storytelling. Founded and led by Artistic Director Nathan Allen and driven by an interdisciplinary ensemble of Chicago's next generation of great storytellers, The House aims to become a laboratory and platform for the evolution of the American theatre as an inclusive and popular artform.

In addition to The Magic Parlour, The House performs original plays in residence at the Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park. Now celebrating its 12th year of original work, The House continues its mission to unite Chicago in the spirit of Community through amazing feats of Storytelling.
