The Importance of Being Earnest is a trivial comedy for serious people. The protagonists maintain fictitious personae to escape burdensome social obligations. Set in the late Victorian London, the high farce and witty dialogue have made The Importance of Being Earnest Wilde’s most enduringly popular play.
