The Student Theatre Guild of Theatre Charlotte will hold auditions for its upcoming production of Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and for 2010-2011 guild membership. Auditions will be held Saturday, May 8, at 2:00 p.m. and Monday, May 10, at 6 p.m. at Theatre Charlotte, located at 501 Queens Road, Charlotte, 28207.*

Sweeney Todd will be the culmination of a two-week intensive theatre experience that will include set, costume and light design in addition to rehearsals for the production. High school (rising 10th grade and up) and college students are invited to audition, and students interested in both performance and technical theatre experience are encouraged to participate.

The production "camp" will be held July 12-16 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and July 19-23 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. The cost for the camp is $300 and will cover all production costs and Student Theatre Guild membership dues for the 2010-2011 school year. Sweeney Todd will be directed by Jamey Varnadore and choreographed by Lisa Blanton. Performances are scheduled for July 23, 24 and 25 on the Theatre Charlotte stage.
