Syracuse Opera is partnering with syracuse.com for an exciting regional competition.

Area high school art programs and the general public are encouraged to create a Venetian mask for our upcoming production of Verdi's tragic opera "Rigoletto." The rules are simple and the possibilities are limitless! Create a half-mask in the Venetian style using an interesting and artistic combination of materials. Send a photo of your operatic masterpiece to SyrOperaMask@gmail.com no later than January 18th. The top 32 masks chosen will be featured on syracuse.com from January 23 - 27 where readers will be able to vote on their favorite designs.

Should you be chosen as one of the top 16 contenders, your mask will be worn by a member of the men's chorus during the production! Winners will receive 2 complimentary tickets to the opera to see their work on the enormous Crouse-Hinds stage at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center!
