In a surprising turn of events, NYC politician Genevieve Marcy is stepping out of office and into the throes of the Pop Theatre world that has recently begun to reshape the downtown theatre scene. Marcy, alongside collaborator Zach Donovan (Subtle Pride), tackles the rules of feminine performance in the world premiere of IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie St) on March 31st at 10pm.

Set in 2005, the show chronicles a mother and daughter living on the Upper West Side as they fall victim to the storm that shook America: Hurricane Katrina. As they excavate their apartment riddled with pop culture detritus, the ever-shifting but always stifling parameters of feminine performance begin to chafe.

Pairing traditions of drag performance with elements of conventional absurdist theatre, IT'S ALL COMING BACK TO ME NOW says goodbye to the romance of yesterday's America through an examination of Canadian pop music, spearheaded by snow diva Celine Dion.

Tickets are currently available for purchase at http://dixonplace.org/performances/its-all-coming-back-to-me-now/ .

The show stars its creators - Marcy in the role of Mother and Donovan in the role of Daughter. An ensemble of dancers and singers will be announced in the coming weeks.

Genevieve Marcy is a comedian, political organizer, and performer based in Brooklyn, NY. You may have seen her in Pussy Power Hour (producer-performer), Am I Write Ladies, or Supernova. You may also have seen her someplace else.

Zach Donovan is a pioneer of the Pop Theatre movement, engaging a community of diverse artists to create mainstream theatre that places art at the center of the free market as a tradeable commodity among a true working class of artists. His work includes Birthday Play (dir. Felicia Lobo), a new surrealist American Dream arena play, and most famously as a Pop Star with improvisational voice band Subtle Pride, known for their hyper-original pop hits and international acclaim. Zach lives in Brooklyn. www.subtlepride.com
