Rosen Performing Arts Center Presents SALUTE TO SINGER/SONGWRITERS OF THE SEVENTIES Tonight

Elton John. Carole King. Joni Mitchell. Carly Simon. Paul Simon. Stevie Wonder. They were six superstar singer/songwriters in a constellation of such stars during the early 1970s; musicians who could definitely be considered the composers of the "New Great American Songbook."

Tonight, July 23 at 7 pm, the Rosen Performing Arts Center of the Wayne, New Jersey YMCA (as part of their 2015 Summer Concert Series) will present the star-studded revue Salute to Singer/Songwriters of the Seventies, which celebrates the great talents of the "Golden Age of the Pop Singer/Songwriter."

Curated, directed, and hosted by BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Editor and Columnist Stephen Hanks (through his company Cabaret Life Productions), Salute to Singer/Songwriters of the Seventies will feature six star vocalists of New York cabaret, including Natalie Douglas, Meg Flather, Lauren Fox, Laurie Krauz, Barbara Porteus, and Carole J. Bufford (who will be performing a solo show at the same venue on July 30). These award-winning singers will present 19 pop music classics of the period. The celebrated Musical Director Jon Weber will be at the piano, with Skip Ward on bass.

"We presented this show at the Urban Stages Winter Rhythms Festival in 2013 and 2014 and audiences and critics loved it," says Hanks. One of those audience members was Naomi Miller, Producer of the Rosen Center Summer Concert Series. "After Naomi saw our show at Urban Stages she was anxious to include it in her 2015 Series," adds Hanks, "and we're all thrilled to be presenting this show again featuring iconic music for a new audience."
