Disney Junior's "Sofia the First," the all-time record holder for the top two cable TV telecasts for kids 2-5, received six nominations for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The nominations for the hit series, which follows the adventures of Disney's first little girl princess, include the following:

Outstanding Preschool Children's Animated Program

Outstanding Casting for an Animated Series or Special

Outstanding Writing in a Preschool Animated Program

Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition

Outstanding Original Song - "I Belong"

Outstanding Original Song - Main Title and Promo

Created for kids age 2-7 and their parents/caregivers, "Sofia the First" follows the adventures of Princess Sofia, a young girl who is learning how to adjust to royal Life After her mom marries the king. Along the way, she discovers that the inner character of kindness, generosity, loyalty, honesty and grace is what makes a real princess.

For 2013, "Sofia the First" was cable TV's #1 series in Girls 2-5 and the #1 preschool cable TV series in Total Viewers and Women 18-49. The Primetime special "Sofia the First: The Floating Palace" ranks as the #2 telecast in cable TV history among Kids 2-5 and the #2 preschool cable TV telecast ever in Total Viewers and Women 18-49, behind only the series' TV movie prequel, "Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess."

Extensions of the hit series include the New York Times best seller "Sofia the First" and the accompanying "Sofia the First: Story Theater" app, which has been ranked #1 Kids iPad app on the App Store in 46 countries worldwide. Disney Consumer Products has robust product lines inspired by the series, which was among the top five licensed toy properties for 2013 and included the #1 selling girls costume at the Disney Store for Halloween 2013. Multiple soundtracks and DVDs have been released, including the #1 animated TV title for 2013, "Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess."

"Sofia the First" is a prominent part of the popular "Disney Junior Live on Stage!" attraction at Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort and Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and is also featured in the 103-city tour of "Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure."

Starring in the series are Ariel Winter ("Modern Family"), Sara Ramirez ("Grey's Anatomy"), Wayne Brady ("Let's Make a Deal") and Tim Gunn ("Project Runway").

The series is executive-produced by Craig Gerber ("Pixie Hollow Games") and Jamie Mitchell ("Special Agent Oso"), who also serve as story editor and director, respectively. John Kavanaugh ("Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo") serves as songwriter/music director and Kevin Kliesch ("Tangled Ever After") is the composer. "Sofia the First" is a production of Disney Television Animation.
