Beres Hammond is an artist whose music manages the remarkable feat of being cool and hot in equal measure. "It's the most perfect mix of reggae and soul we've ever heard," says Reggae Reviews.
During his four-decade-long career, Hammond has lent his signature, smoky-sweet style (often compared to Otis Redding or Teddy Pendergrass) to every kind of rhythm track - from the funked-up reggae jams of 1970s fusion (performed with his then-band, Zap Pow), to the lush instrumentation of his classic Soul Reggae LP, to the spare digital beats of his dancehall breakthrough, What One Dance Can Do , and its follow-up, A Love Affair (recorded in collaboration with Buju Banton). In recent years, Hammond has continued to blaze a trail of contemporary world music hits. His 2012 CD, One Love, One Life, is a laidback collection of lovers' serenades that reached the top of the Billboard reggae charts.
Chaka Demus & Pliers is the Jamaican reggae duo of Chaka Demus (born John Taylor) and the singer Pliers (Everton Bonner), best known for their hit "Tease Me."
