Lloyd Aur Norman Helms Lyric Video for Florida Georgia Line's 'Dirt'
SAE Institute Nashville Music Business Program faculty member Lloyd Aur Norman directed the lyric video for Florida Georgia Line's hit song "Dirt". The video has received more than 900,000 plays on YouTube, and the song is the sixth consecutive single of the duo to peak at either #1 or in the Top 3 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
"The video was created with an amazing crew during a three day span in Nashville and Copper Canyon Ranch in Hopkinsville, KY," says Norman, who's a winner of five design Addy awards from the American Advertising Federation. "I love making music videos because they combine all my interests - audio, video, and design. My focus is on becoming the best music video director that I can be."
Norman grew up in Memphis and graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 2002. In 2007, he graduated from University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Business, and in 2013, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from O'More College of Design in Franklin, TN. He developed his interest in film making in 2012, when he directed his first video for a Tennessee-based band. The clip received homepage placement on CMT.com, regular rotation on TCN, and feature placement on GAC.
While he was still in school, Norman made industry connections - and developed his skills - through internships at NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) in Memphis, web design firm Studio 202 in Franklin, and Big Machine Label Group in Nashville. In April 2014, he became the Director of Content & New Media at Big Loud Mountain (management company of such chart-topping country artists as Florida Georgia Line, Chris Lane, and Dallas Smith) in Nashville and became a faculty member of the Music Business Program at SAE Institute Nashville, specializing in video and web technology. He's also the owner of Villain Place, a company that he founded in 2010 which provides audio, video, and design services - including album covers and merchandise - for musicians.
