Cowboy Junkies has sold more than four million records, and their shows at The Ridgefield Playhouse have been virtual sell-outs. The Los Angeles Times praised The Trinity Session as one of the best ten albums of the year. On Thursday, March 6, at 8 p.m. at The Ridgefield Playhouse, Cowboy Junkies will perform The Trinity Session in its entirety -- only the eighth time in the U.S. This show will be a mixture of the band's original material plus new recordings of classic folk, rock and country songs including their most famous single, The Velvet Underground's "Sweet Jane" and "Blue Moon Revisited (Song for Elvis)", which is both a cover and an original, combining one of their new songs with the pop standard "Blue Moon". An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person), which includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d'oeuvre and priority parking, is available for this show by calling the box office (203-438-5795). The Bar and Grille on 7 (967 Ethan Allen Hwy, Ridgefield) will pour a free glass of house wine with dinner the night of this event when tickets are shown. Cowboy Junkies is part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer/Songwriter and Xfinity Rock Series.

Kim Ruehl of About.com reviewed Cowboy Junkies in concert raving that Margo Timmins's "voice is still on fire, and the band's trademark musicianship is soaring..." The brother-sister group is made up of Michael Timmins (guitar and chief songwriter), Peter Timmins (drums) and Margo Timmins on vocals, with non-family member Alan Anton on bass.

The Junkies were nominated for Group of the Year at the Canadian Juno Awards (equivalent to the U.S. Grammy) in 1990 and 1991 and have received other distinctions. Lead singer Margo Timmins was named "one of the fifty most beautiful people in the world" by People magazine in the early 1990s. Few bands have lasted as long with their original line-up intact. In 2008, they released Trinity Revisited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original recording of The Trinity Session.

For tickets ($60), call or visit the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
