Today Silvara Vineyards officially announced the release of its newest wine, 2014 Malbec, from the Walla Walla Valley Appellation. Aged for 14 months in the barrel and bottled just this past spring, this wine is now ready to delight the palate of wine lovers.

This latest Malbec release adds to Silvara's legacy of wowing judges. The 2010 Quartette, a red blend with 43% Malbec that was released in 2013, has earned numerous awards and accolades including Best Red and Best in Show at the 2013 North Coast Washington Wine Awards (NCWWA) and placement as number 9 on the list of Seattle Times' Top 50 Wines of 2013.

"The art of barrel aging is a key ingredient in our wines and our 2014 Malbec is a perfect example," said owner and winemaker for Silvara Vineyards, Gary Seidler. "We are excited to offer this latest release, melding flavors of black currants and dried plums together with oak spice for a deep, persistent finish. "Achieving the perfect balance, when it comes to composition of the barrels, has an influence on this wine that makes it inky in the glass and aromatic with rich, dark fruit flavors."

Silvara's 2014 Malbec joins its family of reds including the 2013 Meritage, which brought home the Gold from the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition (SFCWC) and the 2013 Red Blend that won a Double Gold Medal and Best in Show from the North Central Washington Wine Awards (NCWWA). The 2013 Meritage, Columbia Valley, is a Bordeaux blend that presents caramel, vanilla and black cherry on the nose. The 2013 Red Blend is soft and jammy with 72% Syrah aged 14 months in neutral oak, coupled with 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot aged 14 months in new French Oak. While they are very limited in supply, the Meritage and Red Blend are still available for purchase from Silvara's website or tasting room.

The Silvara 2014 Malbec, a limited production release with only 162 cases, will only be available for a short time to the general public. By joining the Silvara wine club, members will be first to experience the winery's newest releases. Membership is available by signing up on Silvara's website at http://www.silvarawine.com or in the tasting room.
