Catriona Cellars, a new winery scheduled to open in Monument, Colorado in early 2014, has announced its first wine label art competition, open to Colorado residents age 18 and above. The competition invites Colorado artists to submit art to illustrate The Legend of The Red Diva. Red Diva will be the first red wine blend to be offered by Catriona Cellars, a wine to be crafted by award-winning wine maker and Catriona Cellars' co-owner Clifford "Woody" Woodworth. "Catriona Cellars' inaugural wine, Red Diva, will embody the characteristics of The Red Diva. It will be a custom-blended red wine and it is our desire that the label express the characteristics of The Red Diva, as we believe our wine will also do," explained Woodworth.

The Red Diva is a fictional auburn-haired Celtic woman whose life, lifestyle and personal values deeply embody both the wine that will bear her name and also the ethics and values of Catriona Cellars and its owners.

The competition will also support Catriona Cellar's desire to incorporate the work of Colorado artists whose style and vision is consistent with the artistic values of Catriona Cellars. "We strongly believe in the enormous talent available right here in Colorado and want to showcase those Colorado artists whose work feels appropriate for the winery," noted Catriona Cellars co-owner Catherine Woodworth. "Beginning with the label competition for Red Diva, it is our hope and desire to host a continuous set of competitions to recognize Colorado artists for their creative talents and abilities and include them in our creative endeavor."

Competition entries will be accepted until December 6, 2013 at midnight Pacific Time. There is no entry fee and artists can submit multiple design entries. The contest will be judged by Catriona Cellars owners Catherine and Woody Woodworth, internationally recognized Colorado artist Susan Helmich, marketing director Karen Stuth and a group of other local artists, artisans and investors. The winner will be announced on the Catriona Cellars website, notified by email on or about December 20, 2013 and awarded a $500 competition prize. The winner will have opportunity to have their work prominently featured at Catriona Cellars and on its website in their permanent online gallery. Entries will be showcased on Catriona Cellars' website at http://www.catrionacellars.com for a period of up to six months.

An entry application, competition rules and The Legend of The Red Diva can be found at http://www.catrionacellars.com/media/art-contest/.
