BWW Previews: HARBOR Opens in Montauk

Nightlife impresario and long-time Montauk surfer James "Jamo" Willis announces the opening of restaurant and lounge, HARBOR. Located directly on the harbor in Lake Montauk, HARBOR offers the perfect combination of delicious food and exciting nightlife, where Willis brings his unique brand of laid-back Australian "Auspitality," with live music, and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine to the far-east end.

Daytime at HARBOR means docking your boat, laying your blanket on the sand, and enjoying a friendly game of bocce or ping pong, sipping rosé, and having long, lingering lunches. As the sun sets and 10 pm rolls around, weekends at HARBOR mean beach parties accompanied with craft cocktails and a mix of 80's, 90's, indie, and old school hip hop dance music.

Struck by the similarities between his native Australia and Montauk, Willis wanted to recreate the beachside bars he grew up with.

"The spirit of Montauk lies in embracing the sea, and we wanted to celebrate that with HARBOR fresh local ingredients and fun atmosphere - to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike, any time of day or night. Even dogs are welcome," says Willis.

HARBOR's menu is inspired by the sights and sounds of summer and will feature dishes such as fresh caught fish, fritto misto, and wood-fired pizza. The restaurant is open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday, and lunch Saturday and Sunday. The bar is reminiscent of a Mediterranean café, the deck offers breath-taking views of the Montauk harbor, and on weekends HARBOR provides a number of events including movie screenings and volleyball games on its private beach.

In addition to the full menu, HARBOR offers big open grill-outs on Saturday afternoons, as well as a takeout stand called BOOBY TRAP MTK, serving delicious Greek food like specialty pressed flatbread wraps, burgers, sandwiches, and salads, along with freshly pressed juices and Victoria Coffee. BOOBY TRAP MTK opens at 12pm and serve until 5am.

Known as a lifestyle impresario in Australia and NYC, Willis sharpened his teeth throwing parties in London, Sydney, Europe, Indonesia, and for 10 years in NYC. Known for his work with Southside, the NoLita hot spot, and from appearances during the Surf Lodge music series in Montauk every Sunday, Willis is excited to finally bring his laid back, fun-loving style to Montauk this summer.
