Gowanus Art + Production, GAP Presents!, is proud to welcome Nadine Bommer Theater Dance and the inventive show, Invisiball, for three nights only, today, June 24 through Friday, June 26.

Grab a hot dog and beer, and settle in to cheer for your team of choice during Invisiball, Nadine Bommer's comedic theatrical performance about the world's most popular sport. Experience ten delicate female dancers transforming into virile, ultra-macho soccer players as a soundtrack of roaring crowds and rhythmic soccer hymns are paired with Nadine Bommer's unique theater-dance language, turning the open space of 501 Union into a surprising, hilarious, multicultural soccer field... right from kick-off.

Having just completed a successful worldwide tour of Invisiball including performances in Berlin, Prague, Copenhagen, Pittsburgh, and Macau, collecting numerous awards along the way, these shows in New York will mark the first performances with Bommer's new US-based company members. The US cast has studied performing arts, theater and dance at prestigious schools and academies including LaGuardia High School for Performing Arts, Alvin Ailey School and The Juilliard School, and The Joffrey Ballet School, among others.

Nadine Bommer Theater Dance Company was established in 2009 by award-winning choreographer Nadine Bommer in Israel and has just opened its NYC studio with a local cast earlier this year. The show uses Animato; a unique theatrical dance method developed by Bommer. The technique and its movement is inspired by the sea and kinetic energy, evoking watery and shapeless movements, that penetrate every motion of the performers. This weightless technique allows the performers to seamlessly embody and portray their characters. The distinctive nature of the Animato dance produces an extraordinary energy on stage, authenticity and exciting totality to characters and situations - something that distinguishes Nadine Bommer's Animato dancers and characterizes her choreography.

ABOUT NADINE BOMMER THEATER DANCE

Choreographer and artistic director Nadine Bommer heads both the Nadine Animato Dance Company of Tel Aviv, Israel, and Nadine Bommer Theater Dance in New York City. The founding of the New York City ensemble has allowed her to extend her creative focus from the Middle East and Europe back to the city of her birth. Nadine studied at the internationally renowned American Ballet Theater before receiving a scholarship for further training at the school of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. In recent years, Nadine has developed a unique approach to movement and creative expression - the Nadine Bommer Method - which includes the original theatrical style "Animato," the Nadine Bommer Technique for dancers (NBT), and a movement language called "Kinetica." "Kinetica" was inspired by the sea and the kinetic energy which leads to a floating, watery and shapeless movement that later connects with Bommer's imaginary characters and situations. The latter method has been adopted by a multitude of dance schools throughout Israel, has been further introduced at annual master Modern Dance workshops throughout Europe and referenced as widely as the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, completing a circle in the artistic and pedagogical journey of her life. Arriving in Israel, while still only a teenager, Nadine started teaching modern dance to at risk children and youth. The originality, humor and creativity of her teaching won her a grant for advanced study, which she used to nourish and enrich her love for movement. She continues to share her love of both movement and teaching with devoted students all over the world, including, in 2015, new students and audiences in China, Japan and South Korea.http://www.nadinebommer.com
