The 2014 Dance Forum: Dancing Our Way Through the Affordable Care Act (ACA)

On Friday, from 9am - Noon, Dance/USA, is pleased to announce the 2014 Dance Forum.
At this FREE convening, Dance/USA will examine the ACA and how it impacts dancemakers based across the country, with sessions led by experts in policy, health insurance, and dance. Additionally, the Dance Forum will include Dance/USA updates for the year ahead and serve as a valuable networking time for the dance field.
The Forum will feature four expert speakers: Sarah Dash, The Center on Health Insurance Reform, Georgetown University Health Policy Institute; Eric Rettig, Small Business Majority; and Renata Marinaro, The Actors Fund; and Brandon Gryde, Dance/USA and OPERA America. The main program will consist of two parts. Part I will be dedicated to an overview of the ACA
led by Dash, including a discussion of the ACA's implications on the dance field, and general implementation timelines and details. The second half of the morning will allow for in-depth conversations for small organizations, led by Rettig, and another session for independent artists, led by Marinaro. The morning will provide relevant information to dancemakers based across the country. There will be a Q&A session at the conclusion of the ACA overview as well as at the end of each breakout session.

Dance Enrollment Days

When: January 13-14, 2014, 10am - 5pm.

Dance/USA is proud to partner with Dance/NYC and the Actors Fund to offer Dance Enrollment Days in conjunction with the 2014 Dance Forum. New York based artists will have the opportunity to enroll in the New York state exchange, New York State of Health. Three locations will be available for enrollment consultations:

Town Hall: Engaging Dance Audiences

RSVP here Join Dance/NYC on February 4th at SLAM for a discussion about Engaging Dance Audiences. Through EDA, Dance/USA has invested in helping the dance field experiment with ways to foster two-way relationships with those who attend and better understanding why they attend, EDA's end goal is to increase the dance field's connection with audiences who can ultimately support artists and work. Learn from NY-based grantees who have developed and tested new programs, both live and online. Peer speakers will share their new models and strategies, particularly those that could be replicated by dance makers with relatively modest organizational capacities and budget sizes. EDA staff will preview an online system that is being designed to share these models with the field. Come learn, share your own strategies, ask questions, and leave with new ideas for engaging your own audiences. Programs will include:

• STREB's Risky Talking, their new curated discussion series with experts in the humanities and sciences.
• The Joyce Theater's Going to the Dance, where audience members interact with dance luminaries and try their hand in choreographing at Your Dance Scoreworkshops.
• Gibney Dance's DANCentricity, which brings high school students to the Gibney space to learn about the choreographic and creative process during a cycle of activities with a professional choreographer.
• Dance Enthusiast's strategies to accelerate their production of online content.
