Well, we done went and did it. I've wanted to do a podcast for quite some time, and I have been fortunate enough to have been a gust and/or panelist on a couple of different shows over the past year; namely the now-defunct That'll Play Podcast and the venerable, legendary, first-of-its-kind Broadway Radio with James Marino.

So, this fall, I decided that as part of my 366 Article in 366 Days Challenge, that I would just suck it up and start a podcast. It's been over a decade since I interned at a sports radio station in Columbus, Ohio, and I am only moderately tech-savvy for someone straddling the line between being a part of Generation X and the Millennials. However, despite the obvious obstacles, I decided to just dive in and FIGURE IT OUT as I go, which has kind of been standard operating procedure for most of my life.

I asked BroadwayWorld TV's most prolific TV critic (who also religiously watches about three dozen other shows that she doesn't cover) Jennifer McHugh if she would like to be involved. She said yes, and our little podcasting adventure was born, but it took us a while to decide on a name. At times we were leaning towards "Drop it Like it's Pop," "Pop and Circumstance," and "Pop-a-holics" (although that one was already taken).

However, in the end, we decided on "Some Like it Pop." Not only does it accurately describe both Jenn and I, but it also includes a nice callback to one of the great comedies in movie history.

We will officially launch our first episode later this month as we preview the 2015 Fall TV Season, however, as part of BroadwayWorld TV's Emmy coverage, we decided to go ahead and put out the demo episode that we recorded this past weekend.

In it, Jenn and I make our picks in the biggest Emmy categories and discuss some of our favorite shows and performers. During the episode, I make reference to an interview I posted on Monday with star of stage and screen Andrew Rannells, which you can find here.

This is by no means a high-quality product yet; as Jenn said, I sound like I am broadcasting from "the bathroom of a tin-roofed crack house," but we weren't originally planning on airing this, so we didn't record it as such. The editing is also not exactly professional quality... yet, and we are still getting our on-air sea-legs, so cut us some slack. Finally, there might be a Marvel Universe inspired post credits extra, so stay tuned for that. Now that all of the caveats are out of the way, take a listen to the show below, and let us know what you think in the comments or on Twitter.
