PINKALICIOUS, FANCY NANCY & More Set for Vital Theatre Company's 2015-16 Season

The award-winning VITAL THEATRE COMPANY has announced its 2015/2016 season of five musicals for children and families, performed by adults. The season will open with Flight School, The Musical, appropriate for ages 2 to 7, which will have its world premiere on Saturday, September 26 at 1:00 pm with a special Red Carpet Premiere. Fashion Academy, The Musical, appropriate for ages 7 and up, opens Saturday, October 2 at 7:00 pm, also with a special Red Carpet Premiere. Pinkalicious, The Musical, appropriate for ages 2 to 7, now in its 8th year, will continue Sundays only, beginning Sunday, September 13 at 11:00 am. Tickets are $49.50 for regular seats and $59.50 for premium seats. Purchase a Family Package before September 25 and all regular seats are only $25.00. Also coming up, Fancy Nancy returns for the holidays in Fancy Nancy: Splendiferous Christmas beginning in November. Finally, in January 2016, comes Twinkle Tames a Dragon, a new musical based on the book of the same title by the best-selling creator of Angelina Ballerina, Katharine Holabird.

In Flight School, The Musical, it's the first day of flight school, where they teach birds to fly. Penguin has the soul of an eagle and is ready to live on the wind. But he wasn't built to soar, as the other birds constantly remind him. Penguin's spirit won't be grounded. With some friends of a feather, and a little help on the technical parts, Penguin follows his dreams to flip, flap, fly! Appropriate for ages 2 to 7. With a book by Cara Lustik, lyrics by Joshua H. Cohen and music by David Mallamud and directed and choreographed by Wendy Seyb, the production is based on the book Flight School by Lita Judge and plays Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 pm, September 26 through October 31, with a special Red Carpet Premiere on Saturday, September 26 at 1:00 pm.

In Fashion Academy, The Musical, MacKenzie "Mickey" Williams is the new student at FAB Middle School (The Fashion Academy of Brooklyn), a training ground for future fashion designers. But her "out of the box" thinking and colorful style make her a "walking Fashion Don't." So, in order to fit in, Mickey decides it's time for a major makeover. The new, trendy "Kenzie" is able to blend in like a true fashionista. But will gaining acceptance come at the price of losing herself? Appropriate for ages 7 and up. Based on the book Fashion Academy by Sheryl Berk and Carrie Berk, authors of the popular chapter book, Peace, Love, and Cupcakes: The Cupcake Club, with book by Sheryl Berk and Sabrina Chap and music and lyrics by Sabrina Chap, the production plays Saturday and Sundays at 3:30 pm, October 3 through October 31, with a special Red Carpet Premiere on Friday, October 2 at 7:00 pm.

In Pinkalicious, The Musical, Pinkalicious can't stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor's office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe - a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this predicament. With book by Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann, music and lyrics by John Gregor and directed by Teresa K. Pond, the production plays Sundays only at 11:00 am, September 13 through October 25.

Fancy Nancy: Splendiferous Christmas. What could be fancier than Christmas? Presents with elegant wrapping paper, festive decorations, Christmas cookies with sprinkles - and who could forget the tree? After all, there is no such thing as too much tinsel. Ooh la la! This year, Nancy is especially excited. After sellingsome of her old gowns and accessories, Nancy has enough money to buya brand-new sparkly tree topper. She can't wait todecoratethe Christmas tree.But when things don't turn out the way Nancy planned, will Christmas still be splendiferous? Appropriate for ages 2 to 7. Based on the New York Times bestselling picture book by Jane O'Connor with illustrations by Robin Preiss Glasser, with book by Cara Lustik and Matthew Hardy, music by Randy Klein and lyrics by Matthew Hardy, the show opens in November.

In Twinkle Tames a Dragon, Twinkle has always wanted a pet and is thrilled when Fairy Godmother grants her wish. While her friends get cute little pets, a naughty pet dragon named Scruffy is NOT what Twinkle had in mind! Can Twinkle tame her dragon in time for Fairy Pet Day? The show is based on the book Twinkle Tames A Dragon by Katharine Holabird, the author of the classic book series Angelina Ballerina. Book by Katharine Holabird and Cara Lustik, book and lyrics by Matthew Hardy and music by Randy Klein. The production opens in January 2016.

VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is dedicated to producing entertaining and educational theatre for young audiences and commissions three to five musicals for children each season.
