Godfrey Johnson

Godfrey Johnson will be performing JOHNSON UNZIPPED at The Foxwood Theatre in Houghton this weekend, heralding in the spring season with a celebration of music, madness, comedy and humanity.

UNZIPPED is an entertaining and surprising solo cabaret filled with biting satire and breathtaking musicality. Audiences will be able to meet the annoying and neurotic Juniper Jade, the sweet and profound Nugent Stein and other colourful characters, also having the chance to hear songs by David Bowie, Supertramp, Leonard Cohen, Bjork, Joe Jackson and Cole Porter as well as original material by Johnson himself. There is always the possibility of a Jacques Brel song making a guest appearance.

The award-winning Johnson has enjoyed international success and has performed over 20 solo shows. He has appeared in numerous films and co-productions. He was recently seen in David Kramer's ORPHEUS IN AFRICA as well as in FIFTY SHADES OF BAMBI with Pieter-Dirk Uys. In 2015, he was nominated for three Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards for his work in VASLAV, directed by Lara Bye, for Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Musical or Music Theatre Show, Best Performance In A Revue, Cabaret Or One-Person Show and Best Sound Design, Original Music Composition or Original Score. He also composed the music for Pieter- Dirk Uys's DIE VAN AARDES VAN GROOTOOR at Theatre on The Bay last year.

JOHNSON UNZIPPED will be performed at the Foxwood Theatre on 17 September at 20:00, with an a la carte menu available from 18:00, and on 18 September at 12:00 with a Sunday buffet available after the show. To book, call Joey on 011 4860935 or email the Foxwood Theatre directly.
