Brooklyn Museum Announces Public Program Schedule For December

The Brooklyn Museum will present a variety of programs for adults, teens, and kids in December. Public programs include talks, performances, and hands-on workshops for children and adults that amplify the Museum's exhibitions and Permanent Collection, serve its diverse public, and support learning through the visual arts.

Highlights include an artist talk with Betty Tompkins on the exhibition Marilyn Minter: Pretty/Dirty; a conversation with sports photographers Al Bello, John Huet, and Walter Ioos Jr. on Who Shot Sports: A Photographic History, 1843 to the Present; and performances of the Brooklyn Ballet's The Brooklyn Nutcracker.

Brooklyn Ballet: The Brooklyn Nutcracker

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

Tickets are $25-90 and include Museum admission.

The Brooklyn Nutcracker transforms familiar Nutcrackercharacters and scenes to represent the diverse traditions and the vibrant culture of Brooklyn. Performances take place Wednesday, December 7, 8 pm; Thursday, December 8, 7:30 pm; Friday, December 9, 7:30 pm; and Sunday, December 11, 1 and 4 pm. Salsa Party

Artist's Eye: Betty Tompkins on Marilyn Minter

This series of intimate, in-gallery talks by contemporary artists illuminates special exhibitions with fresh and alternative perspectives. For Marilyn Minter: Pretty/Dirty, artist Betty Tompkins responds to the legacy of feminism, photorealism, and criticality in Minter's artworks.

Brooklyn Symphony
