On Sunday March 5th, 2017, 35mm screens all over the world will champion the beautiful format of film and revel in all of the glorious depth and richness that ONLY film can provide. Reel Film Day is the first ever celebration of all things 35mm. And why is Reel Film Day on March 5th? Because it's 3.5, obviously.

"Less than 5% of our film history exists in a high-definition digital format," says Alamo Drafthouse CEO and Founder Tim League. "If you really love film, then join us to recognize, celebrate and support film screenings in independent theaters everywhere."

"It's a sensory thing," said Steve Bellamy, president of Kodak Motion Picture and Entertainment. "It really creates an organic, almost 3D tapestry of an image on screen. Consciously you may not notice it, but subconsciously, it's a radically different experience."

At the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn, celebrate Reel Film Day with special screenings of FROWNLAND at 6pm and THE DEVILS at 9pm.

Directed by Ronald Bronstein and shot by Sean Price Williams on 16mm, FROWNLAND is a painfully intimate portrait of the miserable Keith Sontag, who lives in the dreariest of New York apartments and shuffles through his job as a door-to-door salesman. Starring Dore Mann as Keith, FROWNLAND premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in 2007, where it won the Special Jury Prize. At this special Reel Film Day screening, director Ronald Bronstein will be projecting FROWNLAND himself in 35mm.

Virtually unseen for the last four decades, Ken Russell's THE DEVILS is a story of sexual repression and religious fanaticism, capturing the rise and fall of a 17th century priest executed for witchcraft. Causing controversy for its graphic depictions of sex and violence alongside Christian rituals and iconography, the film was heavily edited before its theatrical release, and only last year received meaningful distribution courtesy of the BFI. Starring Oliver Reed and Vanessa Redgrave, this Reel Film Day screening of THE DEVILS is a rare opportunity to catch an even rarer film.

Tickets for FROWNLAND and THE DEVILS are on sale now via the Alamo Drafthouse Website.
