Sad to hear he has to leave for personal reasons, but I'm happy to see who is replacing him.
Tom McGowan a lovely presence onstage. I saw him as the Wizard in Wicked several times, and always enjoyed his performance. I'd like to return to see the show again with him in it.
Really sad news. He stood out as absolutely perfect in his role because he more than anyone else on that stage avoided the cartoony schtick-laden caricature that everyone else seemed directed to pour on like molasses all through the show. We will miss his effortlessly light touch.
Looks like i'll be seeing his final performance! I hope everything is okay.

Wait a minute. Am I reading that right? You're saying everyone else in the cast seemed directed to pour on the schtick caricature but he didn't follow that direction so that made him "perfect"? Odd thought -- that the person who doesn't do what the director wants and who is the only one in a different style is the "perfect" one.
But I kind of agree with what you say -- I too thought he stood out a bit but BECAUSE he wasn't in the same production style as the entire rest of the cast. That seemed surprising to me as he is SO capable of the broader style if that's really what the director wanted him to do.
I saw the show today (sadly disappointing) and it was clear that McGrath was favoring his right leg, almost dragging it at times. My guess is that is probably why he is leaving the show. I remember he left Nice Work for awhile to have knee surgery a few years back as well. Great performer!!
