So the 'Family Guy' guy wants to write a Broadway musical - is this a disaster waiting to happen? Or will it be the new musical theatre phenomenon?

He already gets compared so much to the South Park guys, and the verdict is always that South Park is/they are better. I'd expect that comparison to continue.

You may not like Seth McFarlane's shows because of the crudeness of the comedy - but if you watch some of the musical numbers they've done you can't deny the guy is a great singer, and I believe he composes some of and co-composes songs for the show.

And that style of comedy is part of what has made The Book of Mormon so successful. Disaster waiting to happen or the next BOM? Too early to tell...

I'm totally down for this - especially if he works with co-creator(s) with extensive theatrical experience. Whatever you think of the varying quality of Family Guy and American Dad episodes, it's undeniable that he has musical theatre in his bones.

Seth definitely loves musical theatre. I would be interested in seeing what he'd come up with. I think he has a great mind for it.

May I remind you all-- "A Million Ways to Die in the West" opened this past summer.

I think the guy has slick charms and can truly sing, but I don't want to hear the musical he's got locked up inside him and is dying to bring to Broadway till he wipes that permanent smirk off his face. Another musical covered in snark like BOM is not the show I'm eager to see.

I think I would like to see him in a Broadway show, rather than him creating one. But family guy has done some original catchy toons. If anyone could pull it off, It's Seth.

Funnily, I feel the exact opposite of this. As a voice actor, he probably has no equal, but when it's just him up there, he's... not quite the full package. Besides which, this probably couldn't happen until at least one of the shows he voices is off the air.
