Today is Sunday, April 15, marking the official opening of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, telling of the origins of Peter Pan, his nemesis Captain Hook and the enchanted island of Neverland, helmed by Roger Rees and Alex Timbers, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. A feat of theatrical storytelling, language and stagecraft, Peter and the Starcatcher is based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. I adored the show Off Broadway and On but have talked to a surprising number of people who disliked the current incarnation and/or felt the show lost a lot of its charm in the move uptown- it will be interesting to see if any of the critics changes his mind from his earlier review.
so happy Christian Borle is getting such good reviews, his storyline on SMASH has been so frustrating (though I LOVE his dynamic w/ debra messing) it's refreshing to see him back in his roots!!

"Borle’s wink-wink performance is so over the top that I half expected him to applaud himself at the end. Celia Keenan- Bolger is delightful as Molly/Wendy, as is Adam Chanler-Berat as the Boy who would be Peter.
But “Peter and the Starcatcher” just can’t stop crowing about how clever it is. I wanted to smack it."
