Don't feed the plants!

At least not the one that has taken over the Historic Holly Theater during the last few weeks. This fall the Holly Theatre Company has produced LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, a comedic rock musical about a hungry blooding-eating plant and his quest for world domination. The 1982 musical was written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken of Disney film fame.

On Saturday night, people from all over the Southeast came to see LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at this historical venue. It's not hard to see why. A quaint theater off of the main square in Dahlonega, Ga, the Holly often receives patrons who are just visiting the area. These vistors have been treated with LITTLE SHOP.

The highlights of this production are Nathan Gerrells's protrayal of klutz-turned-botanist Seymour Krelborn and Joel Altherr's demented dentist Orin Scrivello. It is clear both of these men have spent hours developing these characters as they display many different layers. Another standout performance is given by Austin Collins, whose wino character greets, or more heckles, patrons as they enter the theater. Both his wino character, as well as his protrayal of Patrick Martin, truly keep the audience entertained. Taylor Cassell has a lovely light voice as she brings Audrey to life with a mousy quality. Overall, the ensemble makes for a very enjoyable evening.
