Karen Ziemba (Curtains), John Glover (The Drowsy Chaperone) and Matt Cavenaugh (Grey Gardens) will star in Project Shaw's next presentation - a pairing of Village Wooing and How He Lied to Her Husband, two short comedies by George Bernard Shaw that will be presented on Monday, June 18th at 7 PM at the Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South).  David Staller produces and directs.

Village Wooing is "A comediettina for two voices" in three "conversations," that "lasts less than an hour, and has two characters: A (Glover) and Z (Ziemba). A is a misanthropic author who meets Z, a country telephone operator and general store salesgirl, on a world cruise. Against his will, by reason of her commonsense and persistence, she marries him when they are later thrown together in her village store," state press notes.

The play will be paired with How He Lied to Her Husband, with Ziemba as "She," Cavenaugh" as "He" and Glover as "Her Husband." "Shaw sends up his own Candida in high comedic style. In the manner of a Lonsdale drawing-room comedy, we meet the glamorous wife who has determinately allowed a beautiful young man to fall in love with her. Romantic letters complete with very specific poetry has been written by the young man, given to the wife, and misplaced. Her husband is now believed to be in possession of the letters…but her husband seems to have a profoundly potent trick up his sleeve."

Tony Award-winner Tyne Daly and Jonathan Hadary will next star in The Millionairess on July 23rd.

Project Shaw is the first theatre festival to present every one of the author's plays. Press notes state, "The Irish born Shaw, who died at age 94 in 1950, is one of the most prolific writers of plays, books and treatises in the English language. His unyielding stand for human rights, particularly for women's rights, has become legendary. He encouraged general political awareness and the need for people to take responsibility for their own lives.
