Tickets for the new musical comedy The Wedding Singer can now be purchased by holders of American Express cards; they will go on sale to the general public on February 12th and the Al Hirschfeld Theatre's box office will open on March 13th.

Before opening on Broadway on April 27th, the show will play a try-out run at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle beginning January 31st. Opening at the theatre on February 9th, it will play through February 19th.

Stephen Lynch ("Comedy Central Presents") and Tony Award-nominee Laura Benanti (Nine, Into the Woods) will star, respectively, as love interests Robbie and Julia, with Matthew Saldivar (off-Bway: Sea of Tranquility, Julius Caesar) as Robbie's best friend Sammy, Amy Spanger (Kiss Me, Kate, tick, tick...BOOM!) as Julia's best friend Holly, Rita Gardner (Morning's at Seven, The Fantasticks) as Rosie, Richard Blake (Hairspray, Aida) as Julia's fiancé Glen Gulia, Felicia Finley (Aida, The Life) as ex-fiancee Linda and Kevin Cahoon (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Rocky Horror Show) as George, one of Robbie's bandmates; the role of Holly has yet to be cast.

Matt Allen, Tracee Beazer, Cara Cooper, Ashley Amber Haase, Nicolette Hart, Peter Kapetan, Spencer Liff, J. Elaine Marcos, Christina Sivrich, Matthew Stocke and Eric Lajuan Summers will make up the show's ensemble.

The Wedding Singer "is set in 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer. He's the life of the party — until his own fiancé leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a sweet-tempered waitress who wins his affection. The only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark. Unless Robbie can pull off the performance of the decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever," state press notes.

The Wedding Singer is based on the 1998 film, which starred Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The show features music by Matthew Sklar, with lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Tim Herlihy and Chad Beguelin. John Rando (Urinetown) will direct the musical, while Tony Award-winner Rob Ashford (Thoroughly Modern Millie) is behind the choreography. The Wedding Singer will also feature sets by Scott Pask, costumes by Gregory Gale, lighting by Brian MacDevitt and sound by Peter Hylenski. Margo Lion, New Line Cinema, The 5th Avenue Theatre, The Araca Group, Douglas Meyer, James D. Stern, Roy Furman, Rick Steiner, Jam Theatricals, Michael Gill, Dr. Lawrence Horowitz and Jujamcyn Theaters are on board as producers.

Tickets for The Wedding Singer at the 5th Avenue Theatre, which range from $19-$71, can be ordered by calling (206)-292-ARTS or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com. Visit www.5thavenuetheatre.org for more information.
