Victoria Clark, Ann Harada & More Join Laura Osnes & Prince Charming Santino Fontana in Broadway-Bound CINDERELLA Workshop, 8/2 & 8/3
Victoria Clark, Harriet Harris, Ann Harada and Peter Bartlett will join Laura Osnes as Cinderella and Santino Fontana as the Prince in a workshop of the new production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA today, August 2nd and 3rd in New York, it has been announced by the musical's producer Center Theatre Group in association with Robyn Goodman, Stephen Kocis and Jill Furman.
Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA anticipates an opening on Broadway in 2013.
MR. Beane's book for Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA offers a new romantic twist on the ultimate makeover story of a maid-turned-princess, mixing fresh comedy and wit with the beloved tale's classic elements -- the pumpkin, glass slipper, masked ball and more.
In addition to musical numbers from the original score -- including "In My Own Little Corner," "Impossible/It's Possible," "Ten Minutes Ago" and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?" -- this CINDERELLA will include several songs from the Rodgers & Hammerstein trunk.
Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA, one of their most popular titles, was written for television, debuting in 1957 starring Julie Andrews. The musical has never been performed on Broadway, although stage adaptations have been performed worldwide since 1958. Along with Rodgers & Hammerstein's CINDERELLA, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein's legendary musicals include OKLAHOMA!, CAROUSEL, THE KING AND I, SOUTH PACIFIC and THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
Victoria Clark portrays fairy godmother Marie; Harriet Harris plays Madame, Cinderella's stepmother; Ann Harada portrays stepsister Charlotte; and Peter Bartlett plays Sebastian, Prince Topher's mentor and Prime Minister of the Kingdom. Marla Mindelle portrays stepsister Gabrielle, Greg Hildreth is the rebel Jean-Michel, and John Treacy Egan is Town Crier.
