In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of First World War (1914~1918), military veterans and actors from stage and screen will give dramatic insight into the War through a compilation of readings and visual imagery during From Flanders Fields: The Story of WWI's Western Front, 7:00p.m. on Monday, August 4 at The Irene Diamond Stage, The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 W. 42nd St. (at corner of 10th Ave. & 42nd St.), Manhattan.

Directed by actor Arliss Howard (Full Metal Jacket, Moneyball, The Time Traveler's Wife) and told through a wide range of voices - some familiar, some forgotten and some quite surprising - From Flanders Fields not only tells the story of "The Great War," but reveals how its political and cultural impacts continue to ripple through our world today.

Featuring remarks by Phil Klay, author of Redeployment, From Flanders Fields will include performances by Peter Scolari, Matt Burda, Michael Castelblanco, Marco Reininger, Kristen Rouse, Ed Walsh, Caleb Wells, Neath Williams and others to be announced. The piece consists of readings of poems, literature and documentary sources, illustrated with photographs and other visual elements. The production will include the words of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Rudyard Kipling, Alan Seeger, Joyce Kilmer, Ho Chi Minh, T.E. Lawrence, Erich Maria Remarque, Guilliame Apollinaire, Victor Hugo, Edith Wharton and others.

Proceeds from the performance will benefit Arts in the Armed Forces, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the cultural gap between the United States Armed Forces and the performing arts communities by producing free theatrical performances for mixed military and civilian audiences.

Tickets are $30 for single admission; $45 for single admission plus commemorative pin and poster; and $60 for single admission and a donation admission, providing a free seat for a member of the U.S. Armed Forces.
