The world's largest solo theatre festival celebrates its fifth anniversary this upcoming season, with over 130 solo productions set to be presented at Theatre Row on 42nd Street between September 18 - November 23, 2014.
In addition to its rich and diverse programming, the Festival recognizes artists of significant achievements in the solo theatre. This year's list of nominees for the United Solo Special Award includes:

Hannah Cabell in "Grounded"
Billy Crystal in "700 Sundays"
Jim Dale in "Just Jim Dale"
Ruben Santiago-Hudson in "How I Learned What I Learned"

Kevin Spacey in "Clarence Darrow"
John Douglas Thompson in "Satchmo at the Waldorf"
Michael Urie in "Buyer and Cellar"

Last year, United Solo Special Award went to Fiona Shaw, who accepted the recognition at the Festival's Closing Ceremony. In her remarks, Ms. Shaw described the solo form as "concertos" with the audience being "the orchestra, as much as anything else." Previous recipients also include Anna Deavere Smith, Patti LuPone, and John Leguizamo.

The winner of 2014 United Solo Special Award will be announced at the Festival's Closing Gala on November 23, 2014, held at Theatre Row in New York. More details about the nominees can be found at http://unitedsolo.org/us/uaward/uaward-2014.
