The Board of Directors and Artistic Director, David E. Leidholdt, are thrilled to present the groundbreaking musical memoir, FUN HOME opening on the Ryan Main Stage Friday, July 28, 2017.

FUN HOME was the main event of the 2015 Broadway season, receiving raves from critics and audiences alike, winning five Tony Awards, including BEST MUSICAL, and making history along the way. Based on Alison Bechdel's graphic novel of the same name, FUN HOME centers around Bechdel's childhood in Clinton County PA, making Millbrook Playhouse a fitting home for one of the first productions of the musical outside of its Broadway run. For many summers throughout the 1960's-70's, Alison's mother, Helen was a performer and costume designer at Millbrook Playhouse and her father, Bruce, was on the theatre's board of directors for several years.

FUN HOME introduces us to Alison Bechdel at three different ages as she unravels the many mysteries of her childhood and their influence on her adult life. Moving between past and present, Alison examines her understanding of her own sexuality and the looming questions about her father's hidden desires. The musical centers around the story of the Bechdel family's life in Beech Creek, PA and explores Alison's relationship with her father Bruce, a former funeral director, English teacher at Bald Eagle-Nittany, and President of the Clinton County Historical Society. Don't miss this unforgettable musical that explores the haunting pull of memory and the power it has to shape our identity!

Samm Carroll plays the grown-up cartoonist, Alison, trying to figure out her family's dysfunctional dynamics as she works on her memoir. Medium Alison, an insecure college student, is played by, Holly Gould, and Small Allison is played by Anya Rothman. Alison's father, Bruce, is played by John Tedeschi and her mother, Helen, is played by Jamie Beth Weist. The cast also includes Alison's brothers, Christian, played by Joey Watkins, and John, played by Dane Hanna, as well as Kali Haines as Joan, and Steven Makropoulos as Roy/Mark/Pete/Bobby Jeremy.

FUN HOME features music by Jeanine Tesori, and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, who made history by becoming the first female writing team to be awarded the Best Score Tony Award. Returning for her third season at Millbrook is Director and Choreographer Courtney Laine Self (The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins), joined by Music Director Patrick Hoagland. The production includes Set Design by Nicholas Schwartz, Costume Design by Michael Blatzer, Lighting Design by Ethan Vail, Props Design by Savannah Draper, Sound Design by Damien Figueras, and assistant directors Michaela Barczak and Alisha Tyler-Lohr.
