The Sarasota Ballet Names 2017-18 Board of Directors

The Sarasota Ballet announces the 2017 - 2018 Executive Officers for the Board of Directors: Hillary Steele, Chair; Judy Cahn, Vice Chair; Pat Kenny, Treasurer; Dick Johnson, Secretary; Rich Segall, Governance Officer; Jean Weidner Goldstein, Chair Emeritus; and Sydney Goldstein, Chair Emerita. The Sarasota Ballet Board welcomes new General Directors, Patricia Golemme and Audrey Robbins. General Directors are Jonathan Coleman, Lynda Doery, Mark Famiglio (Honorary), Pat Golemme, Sean Keenan, Frank Martucci, Teresa Masterson, Peter Miller, Dr. Bart Price (Honorary), Dale Rieth, Audrey Robbins, Rich Segall, Maureen Steiner and Sally Yanowitz. Board Chair Hillary Steele says "I am delighted that Pat and Audrey agreed to join, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and reach in the community."

Golemme comes from a distinguished and varied background in sales, with executive roles in merchandising for companies such as Jordan Marsh and TJMaxx, as well as an impassioned commitment to volunteer work with organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the Friends of The Sarasota Ballet. "I am excited to lend my support to The Sarasota Ballet, where I've been an avid supporter for many years and have been so fortunate to be introduced to remarkable choreographers and ballets," says Golemme.

Robbins has been an ardent advocate for education through her career as a Teacher and Director with numerous institutions, including founding Statia Terminals School in St. Eustatius, Netherlands Antilles and her work as Chair of the Math Department at The Out-of-Door Academy in Sarasota. "The beauty and athleticism we see on stage; the passion and integrity of our Director Iain Webb and Assistant Director Margaret Barbieri; and the hard work and dedication of Executive Director Joseph Volpe and the staff, all combine to create a truly phenomenal organization," exclaims Robbins.

The Sarasota Ballet's 2017 - 2018 Season carries on the Company's dedication and commitment to the art of ballet, bringing the highest caliber of dance through some of the great choreographic masters to the Sarasota stage. "This is truly an extraordinary Company, one that is influencing the world of dance in so many ways and with Pat and Audrey joining us, I am confident that we will continue to have a Board of Directors that understands the significance and uniqueness of The Sarasota Ballet," says Joseph Volpe, Executive Director of The Sarasota Ballet.

In the last five years, The Sarasota Ballet has been invited to perform twice at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and the Fall for Dance Festival at New York City Center, as well as week-long residencies at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival and The Joyce Theater in New York. The Company performed in May 2017 at the inaugural National Choreographic Festival in Salt Lake City.
