On the heels of last year's theatrical hit The Steadfast, Slant Theatre Project's co-artistic directors Mat Smart, Adam Knight, Wes Grantom, and Matt Dellapina announced the company's 2014 Season today, marking their 10th anniversary. Featuring two world premiere plays The Cloud (May 16-June 1), Naperville (Fall 2014) and their ongoing On This Island live theatrical podcast evenings (beginning Feb. 25th at Ars Nova), their 10th season will prove to be their most daring, as the theatre company continues their mission to offer emerging artists challenging opportunities to "build the plane in flight."

Slant Theatre Project's first world premiere in their 10th anniversary season, The Cloud, will be staged at HERE from May 16-June 1, 2014. In this original mistaken-identity comedy written by Matt Moses (Daniella Uses Dirty Words), lovers who suspect each other of cheating exchange computer passwords and start impersonating each other online, ultimately exposing things they wish they hadn't. The Cloud explores changing notions of privacy and intimacy in the age of social media, conjuring up a theatrical space in which all the www is a stage.

The Cloud synopsis: Chris, a set designer in his early 30s, is gunning for a job designing a major production of As You Like It. His girlfriend Katie is an app designer in her 20s who gets her first big break with a very revealing app called "Show Me Yours." Also featured is Katie's ex-boyfriend, Greg, a personal trainer in his mid-40s who's ready to end his philandering and get married, as well as Greg's client Sandy, a costume designer in her early 40s who, seeking excitement, decides to have a fling with a younger man.

Wes Grantom (Eager to Lose, The Steadfast) directs a cast of four including Emily Walton (Eager to Lose, Fairytale Lives of Russian Girls), Teddy Bergman (Peter and the Starcatcher, S*x Lives of Our Parents), Polly Lee (Marie Antoinette at Yale Rep, Wasps at Studio 42), and one additional actor to be announced. Designers include Daniel Zimmerman (set), Lisa Loen (costumes), Driscoll Otto (lights), and Phil Pickens (sound).

The company's second original play Naperville, a world premiere comedy by Mat Smart (The Steadfast, Samuel J. and K.), will be staged in the fall. Directed by Adam Knight (Status Update, Exit Carolyn), the location and dates will be announced at a later date. In Naperville, after Candice goes blind, her 30-year-old son moves back home to Naperville to help her transition into her new life. Naperville is a romantic comedy about sight, an old high school crush, curfews for your mother, and how beauty reveals itself in the suburbs. The New York Times has called playwright Mat Smart's writing "ambitious," "nuanced," and "an impressive achievement."

On This Island Episode #8 "Siren Song" will be the first in a series of four new live On This Island podcast events to be staged and recorded at Ars Nova, 511 West 54th Street in NYC. On February 25th at 8pm, On This Island, Episode #8 "Siren Song" will be hosted by company co-founder Adam Knight and directed by Joseph Ward. Performers will include opera sensation Anita Rachvelishvili (The Metropolitan Opera's Carmen and Prince Igor), author Jen McGuire, folk singer Jay Brannan (Around The World In 80 Jays), filmmaker Jeff Seal, actor-writer Jiehae Park (2013 Princess Grace Award), resident musician Phil Pickens, and more to be announced. On This Island is an ongoing live theatrical podcast event - a night of storytelling for the New York City life to replenish the charms and mysteries that brought you to this island on the edge of America. With regular host Matt Dellapina, a group of musicians, writers, and theatre artists gather to riff on a theme and explore what it means to inhabit one of the world's most storied cities.
