The hit Broadway revival of Sweet Charity will welcome two new cast members to the company on Tuesday, September 20. Wayne Knight will assume the role of Herman and Kearran Giovanni will take over as Helene at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Knight, best known as Jerry's vengeful neighbor Newman on "Seinfeld," began his Broadway career with a three year run in Gemini in 1979. He subsequently appeared in Larry Gelbart's Mastergate and as Yvan in Art with George Segal and Buck Henry. Knight has appeared regularly in six television series including "Third Rock From the Sun" in which he played Officer Don Orvi. His numerous film credits include Jurassic Park, JFK, Basic Instinct, To Die For, Dirty Dancing, Tarzan and Toy Story 2.

Giovanni comes to Sweet Charity directly from the Broadway company of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Previously, she appeared in the first national tour of The Lion King, Beehive with Debbie Allen and The Wild Party. Her television credits include appearances on "Law and Order" and "Guiding Light."

Rob Bartlett and Kyra Da Costa played their final performances as Herman and Helene respectively, on Sunday, September 18.

Sweet Charity, starring Emmy Award winner Christina Applegate as Charity and Tony Award winner Denis O'Hare as Oscar, performs at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 W. 45th St). The show is directed by Tony Award-winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago) and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Wayne Cilento (The Who's Tommy, Wicked).
Sweet Charity also stars Janine LaManna as Nickie and Paul Schoeffler as Vittorio.

With book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, and based on an original screenplay by Federico Fellini, Tullio Pinelli and Ennio Flaiano, Sweet Charity is a "funny, poignant and tender look at the misadventures of Charity Hope Valentine (Applegate), a dance-hall hostess who always gives her heart - and her earnings - to the wrong man," according to production notes.

Sweet Charity originally opened at the Palace Theatre on January 29th, 1966 in a production that was staged by the legendary Bob Fosse and starred the equally renowned Gwen Verdon in the title role; it ran for 608 performances.

Tickets to Sweet Charity (which range from $56.25 to $101.25) can be purchased at Telecharge.com or by calling 212-239-6200. For more information (and fun special features), visit www.sweetcharitythemusical.com.
