Production company Stageworks Media, best known for adapting music, publishing and film studio source material directly for the stock and amateur theatrical licensing marketplace, proudly announces its new global publishing/distribution deal with leading stage publishing and licensing company Playscripts, Inc. The deal's inaugural projects include two new titles from Stageworks' Pop Musicals Collection, Cyrano de BurgerShack by Jeremy Desmon, and Emma! A Pop Musical by Eric Price.

Cyrano de BurgerShack and Emma! A Pop Musical were created in partnership with the major music publishing houses such as Sony/ATV, Warner Chappell, Universal, and BMG, among others. Both musicals are contemporary retellings of the classic stories and characters set in modern high schools, with scores featuring newly arranged pop hits by artists such as Katy Perry, P!nk, Madonna, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Adele, John Mayer, Sara Bareilles, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Carly Rae Jepson, Whitney Houston, Alanis Morissette, and many others.

Stageworks Media was launched 11 months ago by Michael Barra, who previously served as a business development executive at both Walt Disney Pictures and Disney Theatrical Group. Stageworks Media is a full service theatre production company that partners with large content companies to adapt their library, catalog, and backlist titles to the stage, with a specialization in the lucrative direct-to-licensing marketplace. With a unique model that bypasses Broadway and goes directly to theatre producers around the globe, Stageworks has a dozen more projects on its development slate - all properties with existing affinity and awareness that appeal to the key Millennials demo in middle schools, high schools, colleges, community and professional theatres. Stageworks is also actively courting new content partners, mostly major Hollywood studios and New York book publishers, for titles to adapt into stage plays and musicals. Plans to adapt its Pop Musicals catalogue for TV and film are also underway.

Playscripts Inc. actively licenses to over 20,000 theatre makers around the world. Founded in 1998, it currently publishes and represents nearly 2000 plays by over 1100 playwrights.

Stageworks Media President Michael Barra says, "We couldn't be more excited to be working with Teresa and her team at Playscripts. Not only are they one of the largest licensors of plays to schools in the country, their innovative online platform is second to none. This arrangement will provide a platform for our shows to be seen and performed by hundreds of thousands of Millennials over the next twelve months alone. Access to this coveted demo is very appealing to us and our content partners."

Teresa Sanpietro, Playscripts' General Manager, adds, "We are thrilled to have an opportunity to partner with Michael and his young, innovative production company. Stageworks Media has quickly proven that they can deliver high-quality stage product that connects with our consumers' love of pop culture. Stageworks has unrivaled relationships with major content companies, and understands better than anyone that theatre publishing and licensing doesn't always have to mean Broadway."

Jeremy Desmon's Cyrano de BurgerShack just held its world-premiere production at the French Woods Performing Arts Festival in Hancock, NY this past weekend, and is now available for licensing via Playscripts' website, www.playscripts.com.
