Jaffe will direct with Alexandra Bassett acting as associate director. In addition Emily Otto will be the musical director and Bill Barclay will be the arranger.

THE WATER DREAM tells the story of Cole Whalebone, a critical writer of mythological archetypes (a la Carl Jung or Joseph Campbell) who evolves into the author of his own original mythology (a la J.R.R. Tolkien or J.K. Rowling.) After Cole's love--Sofia--has left him, figures from the personal tragedy of his childhood manifest themselves as mythic archetypes in Cole's imagination, often represented by giant puppetry. It is through this metaphorical quest that Cole discovers his chance for catharsis in his waking life.

Shawn Cody is the winner of the Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship Award in Playwriting.

This reading is open to the public, to reserve seats email shawncody@gmail.com with your name, and the number of seats required.
