Sky-Pony (with Tony nominee Lauren Worsham) and The Deafening (with Tony Winner Lena Hall) at Mercury Lounge 10/5

Not a lot of Broadway stars can do eight shows a week and run a rock band on the side. Lena Hall (Tony winner for HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH) and Lauren Worsham (Tony nominee for A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER) both do.

On October 5, Ms. Hall's band The Deafening and Ms. Worsham's band Sky-Pony will perform on a double bill at Mercury Lounge. The two bands were featured together in the NY Times -- now they appear together onstage for the first time.

It all happens on Sunday October 5 at Mercury Lounge (217 E Houston St, NYC). Doors at 9pm, Sky-Pony goes on at 9:30pm and The Deafening at 10:30pm. Tickets are $10. More info and advance tickets available at http://www.mercuryloungenyc.com/event/638263-deafening-sky-pony-new-york/.

The Deafening is New York to its core. A ferocious four-piece born of the city's eternal energy. A raw tribute to its defiant crush. With blues beating back and rough punk ethos, The Deafening are the natural heirs to the Bowery's big bad seventies sound. With wild man Burt Rock on guitar, Dylan Doyle on bass, Mick Harrison whipping back the skins, and Tony Award winning Lena Hall wailing her little black heart out, this four-piece seeks to return to rock it's dirty sexy city heart. http://www.thedeafening.com

Sky-Pony (pictured) is a Brooklyn based band that merges lush, danceable indie-pop with burlesque-inspired performance art. They incorporate costumes, choreography, and projections into their high-energy live shows. Their discography includes two EPs: Say You Love Me Like You Mean It and Raptured Live, both available on itunes. Led by Lauren Worsham and her Obie Award winning husband Kyle Jarrow, Sky-Pony also features the talents of Kevin Wunderlich, Lizzie O'Hara, Kristine Piacentile, Jessi Suzuki, Perry Silver, Eric Day and David Blasher. The Wall Street Journal describes Sky-Pony as "a 1960s girl group on crack - tight, fierce, hilarious and out of their minds." More info on the band at http://www.sky-pony.com.
